A 2-year-old boy was found safe after his family mistakenly left him behind at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Department says it got a call about 7:30 p.m. Sunday about a missing toddler. Both parents told authorities they thought their son was with them when they left Lake Nokomis to visit a friend in Spring Park.
When the parents discovered the boy wasn't with them, they alerted police and officers from at least five departments searched the Spring Park area, including the shores of Lake Minnetonka.
They didn't realize the toddler was left at Lake Nokomis until another child told them the boy wasn't in the vehicle when they left. KSTP-TV (http://bit.ly/nsATXZ ) says Minneapolis police then received a call about a child found at Lake Nokomis. Police say he had been by himself about an hour.
