The federal government has awarded Minnesota $2 million to improve public health.
Most of the money will come from the federal health care law's Prevention and Public Health Fund. More than half of the grant funds will go to Minnesota's immunization programs.
The money is part of a $137 million grant program providing funds to most states. The $2 million for Minnesota is on top of last week's grant of nearly $1 million to protect public health by preventing disease outbreaks and infections linked to health care settings.
