3M CEO George Buckley Thursday praised Apple founder Steve Jobs as a great innovator.
Jobs, who reinvented the world's computing, music and mobile phone industries, died Wednesday at the age of 56.
Buckley said Apple is one of 3M's top customers. Speaking at the Economic Club of Minnesota, Buckley called Jobs a brilliant man and a great visionary.
"It really is a very sad day," Buckley said. "I wrote the company a letter last night, sending condolences, probably along with 3 million other people, I suspect, from 3M. It is a day of sadness for those of us who are in the innovation business."
3M doesn't reveal what products it supplies to specific companies. But 3M sells products that greatly improve the performance of display screens on TVs, computers and other consumer electronics.
