MOBRIDGE, S.D. (AP) -- The unseasonably warm weather is not good news for those who love ice fishing.
South Dakota Public Broadcasting reports that an annual ice fishing tournament on Mobridge will be missing a key ingredient this year - the ice.
Organizer Jesse Konold says Saturday's 11th annual Ice Fishing Tournament in Mobridge isn't cancelled -- it'll just be a little different. Konald says there isn't enough ice on Lake Oahe to make fishing safe so the weigh in won't happen for the 900 participants scheduled to compete for more than $150,000 in cash and prizes.
The Mobridge Chamber Tourism Committee began the tournament in 2001 as a one-person ice fishing competition and received 50 individual entries.
It's since grown to become a large event for the city of Mobridge.
