It's 3:50am and I'm awake. I don't normally get up at this hour. I'm usually up at a much more sane 4:50am. But now I'm awake, partially because of my dog, Carson (my canine alarm), and partially because The Daily Circuit starts Tuesday!
And, truth be known, I've been waking up in the middle of the night a lot the past few months, thinking about how exactly we're going to pull off three hours of engaging, informative, and provocative radio each day.
I've been a producer on Midmorning for six years now, so I'm (somewhat) used to the stress of live radio, but we're kicking it up a notch with The Daily Circuit, and we'll have a lot of eyes (and ears) on us. Fortunately, we have a very talented team, so I'm confident that it's going to be great.
But that doesn't stop my mind from churning in the wee small hours of the morning. Do we have the right balance of stories? Is that great guest tentatively booked for Wednesday going to come through? What if someone cancels on us? These are the things that go through a radio producer's mind. I have a feeling I have a lot of early mornings ahead of me.
