Caring Bridge, a website that offers a way for family and friends to provide and receive updates on a loved one's medical condition, is launching a new service this week.
Users will now have access to an "online calendar/task manager that will make it easy for friends and family to coordinate everyday tasks while a loved one is having a health issue -- shopping, pet care, errands, etc," the company said in a news release.
The website is most often associated with serious medical conditions, like terminal cancer. It attracted thousands of visitors when the family of injured high school hockey player Jack Jablonski used it to provide updates on his medical condition. The family continues to use the service.
But the company hopes the calendar and task manager features will be appealing to a wider audience, including new parents who need some extra help from family and friends.
The company is holding an event at the Mall of America today to publicize the changes.
