A Cold War-era Soviet fighter plane rolled off the end of the runway at Flying Cloud airport Thursday morning.
The pilot suffered only minor injuries, although the plane came to rest beside Flying Cloud Drive.
FAA spokesman Tony Molinaro said the plane was landing at the time.
"As it landed, it slid off the end of the runway and through a fence," he said.
A statement from Himle Rapp, a public relations firm, said the jet's landing parachute failed to deploy properly. The plane was to be part of the 2012 Air Expo scheduled for this weekend at the Eden Prairie airport. That event will continue as planned.
The plane is registered to a Michigan man, who has displayed the fighter at other shows, including the 2010 AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wis.
