Aren't cell phone games supposed to be used to avoid making eye contact with strangers in elevators or talking with family members at dinner?

The city of Roseville is challenging that assumption this Saturday by trying to break the Guinness World Record for "largest mobile gaming party."

Birmingham, England holds the record right now, with 316 participants, according to a news release from the city of Roseville.

If you're not interested in playing Angry Birds with a crowd full of strangers, there are plenty of other Guinness records you could break without leaving your house.

For example, there's the record for "fastest time to shell a boiled egg."

Time to beat? 2.66 seconds, set by Silvio Sabba of Italy. Here's the video:

That one might be tough. But perhaps you'd have more luck with "most hair clips on the head in 30 seconds." Current record? 37 hair clips, set by Preyans Patel in India. Patel captured his achievement in a rather odd video:

Or you could grab your cell phone and head to Roseville Saturday morning. The mobile gaming record event is at the Guidant John Rose MN Oval, 2662 Civic Center Drive, Roseville. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. The official tally will be recorded at noon.
