ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Negative ads in Minnesota's most closely watched House race claim that Democrat Rick Nolan wants to do away with Medicare and Republican Chip Cravaack made constituents pay for face time.
Those misleading claims are part of a $2.5 million wave of campaign commercials in the past three weeks.
The evidence shows that Nolan supports Medicare and Cravaack held several town hall meetings throughout his large northeastern district.
Both parties and their allies are fighting hard for the seat that Cravaack won in an upset two years ago.
Sharply negative messages are coming from groups including the American Action Network, a Republican ally led by former Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota, and the Democratic-supporting House Majority PAC.
