One Minnesota grocery chain says Hostess products are flying off the shelves of stores across the state after the company sought permission from a court to shut down on Friday.
Eden Prairie-based Supervalu owns 44 Cub Foods stores in Minnesota. Spokesman Michael Siemienas said they have seen a surge in the number of people purchasing Hostess products like Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread.
"People who purchase Hostess products or just want have some are going to the stores and buying them now based on the news of what is taking place with the company," he said.
Siemienas said the stores will not be resupplied with Hostess products.

"So once the product is off our shelves," he said, "that is all that we have. So it is literally -- we have Hostess products on our shelves while supplies last."
Hostess Brands Inc. filed a motion Friday with U.S. Bankruptcy Court, seeking permission to shutter its operations. The move comes after the company said striking workers across the country crippled its ability to maintain production.
They company plans to liquidate its assets starting Tuesday.
