Best Buy is disputing reports that the company's website crashed Monday morning.
The retailer says its website has received "unprecedented" traffic Monday but has not gone down.
"Unfortunately, we did have an issue with a tax calculation system, which caused a delay for customers," said Amy von Walter, a company spokeswoman. "And to help resolve that delay, we began manually managing traffic into our site. So, customers did experience some delay accessing the site."
The problem lasted from about 10:30 to 11:30 Monday morning. It's not clear how long individual customers had to wait.
The company says it is providing expedited shipping to customers inconvenienced by the slowdown. Best Buy said its website has more than enough capacity to handle customer traffic.
