The start of the holiday shopping season was mostly problem-free in the Twin Cities, although Bloomington police were investigating a robbery in the parking lot of the Walmart there.
The store started Black Friday deals about 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Bloomington police say an Eagan man called them shortly after 11 p.m. to report that he had been robbed after doing his holiday shopping at the store.
Cmdr. Vic Poyer said the man pushed his cart of merchandise from the store to his car when an SUV pulled up and three women got out.
"The females told the male that the cart belonged to him. The male said no, the card was his," Poyer said. "The females started grabbing the stuff out of his cart, and loading it into their SUV. They struggled over the merchandise a little bit. The females pushed him and got into their red SUV and left with his merchandise."
Poyer said a DVD player, a shaver and other items were stolen, although the victim managed to rescue a set of towels.
