MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves have been saying all season that the playoffs are the goal this year. Now they're putting their money where their mouth is.
The Wolves are unveiling a new campaign that promises anyone who renews their season ticket or purchases a new one for next season a 10 percent discount if the team does not make the playoffs this year. The Wolves are currently in ninth place in the Western Conference, one spot out of the playoff field.
Timberwolves chief marketing officer Ted Johnson says that after years of rebuilding it was time to show the fans just how serious they are about raising expectations. He says injuries to Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Roy and Chase Budinger didn't deter them from going forward with the plan.
