Twelve soldiers and airmen competed last weekend against teams from 12 other states in the biathlon, which involves skiing and shooting. North Dakota biathletes won the top two spots in both men's races and finished first and third in both of women's events.
Tech. Sgt. Danielle Card won the 7.5-K sprint race and the 10-K pursuit, and 1st Lt. Blake Hillerson took first in the 10-K sprint and the 12.5-K pursuit.
Maj. Eric Nordgren placed second in both men's races and Maj. Micaela Brancato was third in both women's events.
The team advances to next month's national championship at Camp Ripley, Minn. The North Dakota squad won the event three years ago and has placed third the past two years.
