Our Ground Level series on the Minnesota's skills gap question wrapped up on the air last night but we're taking another bite of the apple with an online video chat at 11:30 a.m. today.

Reporter Tom Robertson in our Bemidji office and I will be chatting with three people involved in this question whether Minnesota jobs and Minnesotans' skills match up well:

Steve Hine, director of labor market information for the Department of Employment and Economic Development. He directed a survey made public last month suggesting that if there's a skills gap in Minnesota, it's more complicated than people have thought and probably limited to certain pockets and job sectors.

Mary Rothchild, director for strategic partnerships and workforce development for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. MNSCU last year conducted a series of meetings around the state examining whether and how the state has a skills mismatch.

Deborah Hoel, human resources manager for Pequot Tool & Manufacturing in Pequot Lakes in central Minnesota. The company makes parts for firms in a variety of industries and has lately found itself struggling to find workers with the advanced manufacturing skills it needs.
