House Democrats to release K-12 priorities

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota House Democrats are planning to reveal their spending priorities for Minnesota's public schools.

House Speaker Paul Thissen and other House DFLers are holding a Tuesday press conference to roll out there education finance bill which includes funding allocations for the state's K-12 system. It's likely to be one of the most-discussed bills for the remainder of the legislative session.

House Democrats in particular have put an emphasis on the need for more state spending on education and have called for higher taxes on the state's top earners to help pay for it. Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton also wants to spend more on schools.
