The Burnsville Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were investigating the discovery of skeletal remains that were found in a park on Saturday.
A man who was walking his dog in the woods at the Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve found the human remains, said Burnsville Sgt. Rory Bochniak.
Investigators know little about the remains, Bochniak said.
"However, we do have a missing person we were looking for last year," he said. "So it's possible it could be this person, but we won't know until the Hennepin County Medical Examiner determines who this is. And they'll have to determine if there's foul play, if any."
A man who wandered away from his home on April 15, 2012, was elderly and infirm, Bochniak said, adding that the police searched the park reserve after he disappeared.
