GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- Grand Forks officials say that two of the city's three bridges could be closed to cars and people if the Red River reaches the 49-foot mark.

KVLY-TV reports that there's a 50 percent chance the water will reach 49 feet. While that's largely manageable for the city because it's protected against levels as high as 60 feet, bridges could be closed at the 43-foot mark.

On the south end of downtown, Point Bridge would close at 43 feet. The Sorlie Bridge, connecting downtown Grand Forks to East Grand Forks, could close if the river rises to 46 feet.

City officials say that traffic could be routed over the Kennedy Bridge on Highway 2.
