Supervisor Paula Plum of the Minnesota State Approving Agency tells the Star Tribune how federal officials have limited inspectors' ability to scrutinize academic programs that serve veterans -- and increased the chance for abuse:
“We were going out to the schools every year reviewing records, making sure they were certifying correctly. If they weren’t, we had the authority to say, ‘I’m going to pull your approval and you can’t have VA students.’ They took that away from us.”
