The second wave of James Beard Foundation awards were handed out last night in New York City, but unlike Friday, when Twin Cities based Andrew Zimmern was among the winners, the awards went elsewhere on the culinary map. Restaurateurs Michelle Gayer of “Salty Tart,” and Jack Riebel, of “Butcher & the Boar” had been finalists for Best Chef: Midwest.
Still, we can can take heart in this: The Beard Foundation previously named Kramarczuk's, in Minneapolis, an "America's Classics" award. Here's a video:
