Minnesota Sen. Al Franken and his wife Franni are grandparents for the first time.
Franken's Senate office released the details Friday. The Frankens' daughter Thomasin and her husband, Brody Greenwald, became parents a day earlier when Thomasin gave birth to son Joseph Bryson Greenwald in Washington.
Franken says Joseph weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces at birth and that mother and baby are doing well. Joseph is the name of Al Franken's late father and of his son.
Franni Franken says it's been an amazing experience for the family and that she is ready to go by ``grandma.''
