Roadwork in the western suburbs will close southbound Highway 169 this weekend.
The southbound side of the highway will close and motorists will be detoured between Maple Grove and Golden Valley, starting at 9 p.m.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is resurfacing the highway this summer and the project involves closing parts of the highway on weekends through August.
The closure runs about 8 miles and extends from Brooklyn Boulevard in the north to the Olson Memorial Highway, or Highway 55, in the south.
MnDOT says motorists should use Interstates 94, 394 and 494, as well as Highway 100, for detours. The road will reopen before rush hour on Monday.
All lanes and ramps on Hwy. 169 will be open for July 4th holiday travel next weekend.
