Winona State University President Scott Olson tells Tom Weber on today's Daily Circuit why MOOCs may not be the ultimate free teaching tool:
"For an 18-year-old, you can already get a phenomenal free education -- absolutely free. You could have done it 50 years ago by going to your local public library and reading every book in it. Most people don't do that, especially when they're traditional-age students. You need structure around that. You need human interaction. That's why people read to their kids rather than just play tapes at night to their kids of beloved children's stories."
(As a new dad, I find that last line priceless.)
