The City of St. Paul is scheduled to release the results of two independent investigations this morning into the deaths of two school children in a May landslide.

The city hired an engineering firm and the dean of the Hamline School of Law to look at the May 22 incident. The landslide happened as a school group from St. Louis Park was in Lilydale Regional Park in St. Paul.

They were looking for fossils near an exposed riverside bluff when the ground gave way. The slide brought gravel, rocks and mud down the bluff onto the children, killing two fourth graders and injuring two others.

The engineering firm Northern Technologies is to report on the cause of the collapse. Attorney Donald Lewis looked into the city's response, policies and processes.

Mayor Chris Coleman is scheduled to release the reports at 10 a.m.
