St. Paul banking employee Amee Gullickson tells the Star Tribune what she thought of her four-week business-ethics course in Capella University's new FlexPath program, one of the first "competency-based" education programs in the country:
“It was definitely a benefit, because I’m able to get through these classes faster. There’s not a lot of interaction, and quite honestly I like it that way. I can just get in there [and] get my work done. ... Am I learning a ton of new information? Not really. If you’ve been in the business world long enough, some of these things come naturally.”
All study materials are optional. Students take tests at their own pace to measure their knowledge of subjects in the course. The teaching is in the feedback they get from from instructors.
