Several downhill ski areas around Minnesota are open this weekend with limited runs.
Cooler temperatures have given ski operators a chance to make snow and a number of areas are now open for business.
"We've all been putting up with some less than fun winters. And I think that this year is going to be payback on the positive side for the poor winters we've experienced," said Spirit Mountain executive director Renee Mattson. She added that the Duluth resort didn't open until November 30th last year because of unusually warm temperatures early in the season.
Several ski areas in the Twin Cities as well as southeastern Minnesota open with limited runs this weekend. And Lutsen Mountains, the state's largest alpine ski resort, will also open two runs.
