A non-profit affordable housing group breaks ground on a new project in north Minneapolis on Monday.
CommonBond Communities is building a 54-unit apartment complex on West Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis.
Families making 50 to 60 percent of the median income in the metro area will qualify for affordable housing at the complex.
There will also be a park, a transit stop and an onsite center run by CommonBond providing connections to local community services.
The City of Minneapolis is providing the land for the project and nearly $5 million in funding. The Basilica of St. Mary has pledged $1 million dollars to help build the apartment complex.
