The Fender Stratocaster guitar that Bob Dylan played at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival is being auctioned off today in New York by Christie's Auction House. It's believed that it could go for as much as $500,000.
Dylan used the electric guitar at his infamous performance that upset many of the folk music purists in the audience.
While collectors covet the historic instrument, it didn't appear to mean much to Dylan. He left it behind on a private plane shortly after the concert. In addition to the guitar, some hand-written lyrics that were in the guitar case will be up for auction as well.
