Gov. Mark Dayton will not order Minnesota's public schools closed on Tuesday and will leave the decision instead to individual superintendents.

The state's three largest school districts -- Anoka-Hennepin, Minneapolis and St. Paul -- all announced plans to remain closed on Tuesday.
Dayton ordered all public schools closed today because of the bitterly cold weather.
"We believe school superintendents are monitoring the temperatures closely and are prepared to communicate with families so they can plan accordingly," state Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius said in a statement.
