Up in Yellowknife, the average high temperature in January is -22. The average low is -29. At sunrise this morning -- which is 10 a.m. -- it was a balmy -15.
What's going on here? It's all part of the "polar vortex," the "arctic hurricane" which is sending the temperatures from Yellowknife to more kindly locales.
Today, a Time editor suggested it's part of global warming/climate change, which ought to be a tough sell at the moment.
None of this should be terribly surprising, we're told, since climatologists have been saying for years that this was coming.
"Where's your global warming now?" a friend posted on a social network this morning.
Right there out your front door.
