Duluth business criticized for MLK Day 'black' sale

The owner of a Duluth store that sells goods from around the world is getting some heat over a Martin Luther King Day sale that offered a discount for black colored merchandise.

The Facebook page for Global Village has more than 200 comments largely critical of the sale that offered 25 percent off on black colored merchandise Monday. Here's a screenshot:

The store's owner, Rachel Mock, says the sale was meant as a celebration of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Mock tells WDIO-TV it wasn't her intent to insult, mock or offend anyone.

Mock says it's the fourth year they've had the sale, but first time people have taken issue with it. Facebook critics say the sale is offensive and misguided, among other criticism.
