This week, a youthful poetry slam, one of the jewels of the Fargo-Moorhead art scene, and grainy nighttime party videos transformed into paintings, have captured the hounds.

The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, according to David Hamilton, is part of the foundation on which the community's art scene is built. David is general director of the Fargo Moorhead Opera. The FM Symphony is saluting its new, London-born music director Christopher Zimmerman with "London Calling," an all strings chamber concert of works by British composers and rock bands. Sunday, March 9th at 2pm, at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fargo.

Twin Cities cultural activist Janis Lane Ewart has found a way into the hearts and minds of teenagers: poetry. Janis went to a Minnesota Youth Poetry Slam event recently and was floored by what she heard. On Saturday, March 8, the semi-finals of the Be Heard MN Youth Poetry Slam Series will be held at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis from 2-4 p.m.
Minneapolis painter Jaron Childs recommends an alluring, yet somehow ominous exhibition at the Soo Visual Arts Center in Minneapolis. "House Party" is a collection of paintings by Eric Syvertson inspired by screen shots of party videos on Youtube. The exhibition runs through March 22.
