Just a quickie post this morning telling you (and myself) what most of us want to hear this time of year. It's going to warm up. If the longer range models are right, it may warm up big time by next weekend.
We burn off some fog today, then our stronger late March spring sunshine can work on temps and melt some snow. Low 40s still look likely today and tomorrow with a sun/cloud mix.
A minor wave will produce some wintry mix overnight into Friday morning for the metro with snow favoring the northern half of Minnesota.
We chill down one more time over the weekend into early next week. The maps through Tuesday show one more blue blob of polar air visits from Canada again.

Season's warmest air by next weekend?
Forecasting temperature trends is more reliable than forecasting precipitation seven days out. We look for two things to add credibility to longer range temperature forecasts at or beyond seven days.
Is there day-to-day model run consistency?
Do multiple forecast models show the same trend?
We may have a yes to both regarding a major warm up by next weekend. The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Global Forecast System now show much warmer air by late next week and especially the weekend of March 29-30.
The European Centre model kicks things off with upper 40s and some rain possible late next week.
For the second straight day, the GFS cranks up temps with a gush of warm air by next weekend with highs in the 50s and even 60s.
Let's see if we can get a few more runs of consistency, but the trends are looking good for a major warm up by next weekend.
Stay tuned!
