When you're facing elimination in the Stanley Cup playoffs, you'll grasp at anything.
The Wild was on the edge last night against the Colorado Avalanche, having coughed up a two-goal lead. The Minnesota sports fan was sure this would end badly. How could it not? It's Minnesota sports.
Then there was a little struggle along the boards in the third period and the woman in pink took charge.
"Whoop his ***, Charlie," she implored, speaking for an entire state while not spilling a drop from her ill-chosen brew.
She became an instant Twitter star via the #LadyInPink hashtag. In minutes she was identified as Alyssa Nelson (@snowflakeNelson), and a few minutes after that, the Wild scored a goal, added two empty netters, and sent the series to a decisive seventh game.
