Today's Morning Edition music comes from 50 years ago today when Marianne Faithfull recorded "As Tears Go By." It was one of the first songs written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. They gave it to Marianne Faithfull because in those early days, the Rolling Stones didn't perform ballads. But after this song became a hit, the Stones recorded their own version which was released in 1965.
