Nearly no Minneapolis murders in May

The city of Minneapolis made it through the month of May without a homicide,  sort of.

The Minneapolis Police Department counts the death of Larry Jermaine Jones, 41, as a 2014 homicide, even though he was shot last year.

According to police, Jones was wounded and paralyzed while sitting in a car in north Minneapolis on Nov. 4, 2013.  Jones died May 24 due to complications from his wound, said a press release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.  Police are still looking for suspects.

If the department hadn't included Larry Jones in its May tally, it would have been the city's first homicide-free month since January of 2012.
