Candidate filing reopened in four Minnesota locations

State officials announced today that they are re-opening the candidate filing period in three Minnesota House districts and one congressional district.

The move comes a day after the deadline for filed candidates to withdraw their names. Those withdrawals left partisan nomination vacancies in four locations.

The Minnesota Secretary of State’s office is re-opening the candidate filing in those districts, but only for the vacant major-party slots.

In the 8

th

Congressional district the vacancy is for an Independence Party candidate. Candidates have until the end of the business day Tuesday.

In Minnesota House races, there’s an Independence Party vacancy in House District 13B in central Minnesota, and a Republican vacancy in 62A in south Minneapolis. Both have a filing deadline of 5 p.m. Monday. The DFL vacancy in District 34A, which is in the Rogers area, has a Tuesday deadline.
