The University of North Dakota in Grand Forks is building a new $122 million medical school.

Medical school dean Joshua Wynne says the new space will allow for larger classes. He says the building is also designed to teach doctors and other medical professionals to work collaboratively.

"They'll be in the same physical space so that they learn all of the soft skills of how to work together effectively," Wynne said. "By learning together, they'll then be able to better practice together."

That can lead to better healthcare outcomes and cost savings, especially in rural areas, he said.

The UND medical school focuses on training healthcare professionals to serve in rural areas.
