Torrential rain late this afternoon and early this evening has caused flooding in parts of the Twin Cities metro area. A flood warning is in effect for parts of the metro until 1130 pm:

FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR WESTERN WASHINGTON, RAMSEY, SOUTHEASTERN HENNEPIN, NORTHWESTERN DAKOTA, SOUTH CENTRAL CHISAGO AND EASTERN ANOKA COUNTIES UNTIL 1130 PM CDT.
AT 611 PM CDT LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT FLOODING WAS OCCURRING ALONG SEVERAL STREETS IN THE TWIN CITIES METRO AREA.

RAINFALL TOTALS OF NEARLY 2 INCHES HAVE OCCURRED, AND THIS HAS RESULTED IN STREET FLOODING ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. IN PARTICULAR UPTOWN.
MOST FLOOD RELATED DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES, DIPS OR OTHER LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM, EVEN A SMALL ONE, ON FOOT OR IN A VEHICLE.
