Jonathan Sage-Martinson
Jonathan Sage-Martinson has been named the new director of St. Paul's planning and economic development

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has picked the head of the Central Corridor Funders Collaborative to direct the city's planning and economic development.

Jonathan Sage-Martinson has led the collaborative, which includes a dozen local and national foundations, since 2008. The coalition's work involves ensuring that residents and businesses along the new Green Line light rail system benefit from the investment. Their work has focused on business mitigation, affordable housing and place-making.

“Jonathan is committed to the values I believe are essential to making our City the most livable – including viewing planning and economic development opportunities through the lens of equity, sustainability and innovation,” Coleman said in a statement.

Sage-Martinson replaces Cecile Bedor, who left May 8 to serve as executive vice president of Greater MSP.

He begins the new job Aug. 4.

Disclosure: Minnesota Public Radio and the Metropolitan Council are negotiating ways to reduce noise and vibrations from the newly built light rail line outside MPR headquarters under a contract agreed to in 2009.
