Our well advertised midweek rain system has arrived across chunks of Minnesota.
The first wave rolls through southern Minnesota and the metro this morning with showers and thunderstorms. The second wave looks likely to fire in central Minnesota later afternoon and evening.
The morning showers give way to a potential severe threat.
The highest threat for severe storms late today favors areas in Minnesota north of the metro including Alexandria, Mille Lacs and Pine City.

Here's a look at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's High Resolution Rapid Refresh radar depiction for around 7 p.m. tonight. Note the nasty line of storms, a potential bow echo north of the metro moving east.
Here's NOAA's severe risk area, a 30 percent chance of damaging winds or large hail in a bull's eye from the Twin Cities north. There is enough shear, enough spin in the lowest mile of the atmosphere today to spin up a few tornadoes later this afternoon and evening.
More then 2 million Minnesotans will be at risk for severe storms by this evening around and north of the metro.
