About 14 percent of the state's children are living in poverty, according to U.S. Census data released Sept. 18.
The level seems stubbornly stuck. It's only slightly lower than last year, but still higher than it was before the recession. It means that over 176,000 children in the state are living below the poverty line.
MPR News' Tom Crann spoke with Peggy Flanagan, executive director of Children's Defense Fund Minnesota to discuss the issue.
