University of Minnesota student leaders are working on a spring marketing campaign to combat sexual assault.
This summer, the Minnesota Student Association led some focus groups on sexual assault.
Results suggest many male students at the U don't fully understand that consent to have sex is not just the absence of the word "no" -- but requires a partner to say "yes."
Minnesota Student Association spokesman Drew Coveyou said many participants also didn't understand how alcohol complicates that dynamic.
"There's a point when someone -- no matter willing they might be -- is simply too intoxicated to provide consent, because their judgment is impaired," Coveyou said.
Some men also said they weren't sure how to intervene effectively to prevent a sexual assault at a party.
Participants also said they would like to see more peer training in the subject.
