Oscar de la Renta died Monday evening at the age of 82. The legendary fashion designer spent five decades in the spotlight, shaped American couture and created gowns for first ladies and for Hollywood stars. He was known for being kind, generous and always the gentleman.
The Oscar de la Renta name became synonymous with glamour and style. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, but said last year he was "totally clean."
