Temperatures dropped to as cold as 9 degrees at Grand Marais, Minnesota, on Saturday morning, with a chilly low of 18 at the Twin Cities National Weather Service office in Chanhassen.
Overnight lows were not quite as cold at daybreak on Sunday. But the cold temperatures penetrated well south. Launching the the month of November with a big chill.
This morning's temperatures ranged from 28 degrees at Silver Bay in northeast Minnesota to 49 at Tracy in southwest Minnesota.
The next weather-maker was showing up from eastern Nebraska to southwest Minnesota as clouds continued to thicken and showers were developing.

Rain would be most welcome from St. Cloud to Fargo-Moorhead, where the past 30 days have delivered very little precipitation.
October rainfall amounts include:
2.37 inches, Rochester
1.80 inches, Duluth
1.07 inches, Chanhassen
0.65 inch, St. Cloud
0.33 inch, Fargo
Dry skies are expected on Tuesday for much of the state, except for some light precipitation in the far north. Election Day temperatures are likely to be near or above seasonal.
Another bout of showers is likely on Wednesday, perhaps changing over to snow in central Minnesota on Wednesday night. The total precipitation from today through Wednesday night could reach up to a half inch in some places.
If your location has missed out on the precipitation the last month of so, and you still have the hose available, you may wish to give the trees a last drink of water before the soil freezes up.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration updated the outlook for the month of November on Friday afternoon. There is not much change from the previous prediction of odds favoring above normal temperatures in our neck of the woods.
