The head of a state agency in charge of helping schools implement Minnesota's new anti-bullying law has resigned.
Bill Mack left his position as director of the School Safety Technical Assistance Center last week.
In an email to state Department of Education officials, Mack said the departure was for personal reasons related to the scope of the job and that he's leaving on good terms.
Craig Wethington, who joined the department's Food, Safety and Nutrition division last year, will take over as interim director, Minnesota Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius said.
In a statement Cassellius said the three-month-old center will continue to help schools comply with the new anti-bullying legislation.
Last spring lawmakers passed an overhaul of the state's anti-bullying law. It requires schools to track cases of bullying and better train employees on bullying prevention.
