Rochester middle school students will be allowed to take iPads home beginning later this month.
District officials want parents to know how their children should use the devices — so they have scheduled a series of training sessions beginning Tuesday for parents of middle school students.
"We go through those questions so that we can help parents understand that while they're using this device in the classroom, when they take it home, everything they need on the device will already be there," said Rochester schools spokeswoman Heather Nessler.
"They won't need to have any special Internet access if they don't have that."
Other districts, including St. Paul, Minnetonka and Pelican Rapids have held similar training for parents.
