The 2-year-old Brooklyn Center boy who died in an apartment fire last week has been identified as Keoni Kemontre Holt by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
Firefighters were called to the 4500 block of 58th Ave. N. around 11:30 a.m. to find heavy smoke and residents evacuating the building. Emergency responders found the boy in a bedroom.
Brooklyn Center Police Commander Tony Gruenig said another occupant of the apartment jumped from a two-story deck to escape the fire.
Brooklyn Center police and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal are still investigating the cause of the fire.
