Police are investigating the early morning non-fatal shooting of a Minneapolis officer who was responding to a burglary and domestic assault call, and said they have a suspect in the burglary and assault case in custody.
However, Assistant Minneapolis Police Chief Matt Clark wouldn't say whether police think that man is the same person who shot the officer.

"We're investigating the link between the two incidents," Clark said at a news conference Saturday afternoon. He declined to elaborate.
The incident began early Saturday morning when someone fired as two officers left a burglary call in the 1100 block of 24th Avenue N. just before 5 a.m., police spokesman John Elder said.
"While leaving the call, one of our officers was shot," Clark said.
According to the dispatch recordings, the officers didn't see the person who fired the gun and were in the middle of the street in front of the house when the officer was shot.
The shot "came from that house or the car in front of the house," the non-injured officer told dispatch. "It was right next to us. Did not see anybody. Came out of nowhere."
Clark confirmed, "The officer was not in his car when this happened. The officer was outside the squad car."
The injured officer, whose name has not been released, is recovering at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau met with the officer and his family at the hospital. Police wouldn't describe the officer's injury.
"We're happy to report the officer is doing well and is in fair condition," Clark said.
Police arrested the burglary and domestic assault suspect at a home in the 1100 block of Logan Avenue N, Clark said.
Clark said the woman who reported the man to police is cooperating with investigators.
Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges called the shooting a "cowardly act."
"We are sparing no effort to apprehend and bring to justice whoever is responsible for it," she said Saturday morning.
