A federal audit of Minnesota child care facilities found stronger state and county inspections are still needed after random visits to 23 facilities exposed persistent health and safety hazards.
The Star Tribune did a Pulitzer Prize-winning series of stories in 2012 on the problems in state child care. Reporter Jeremy Olson is one of the reporters that produced the original series and he also wrote this most recent story for the Star Tribune.
